Yoga Danda is an ancient device, designed by yogis centuries ago, to manipulate breath flow as desired for various practices. Yoga Danda helps to change the flow of breath in the nostrils. Being able to control breath flow, allows a person to achieve optimum energy flow in the body.
Place the HealthAndYoga Yoga Danda comfortably under the armpit (right or left) of the active (open nostril) side. Then shift body weight over the Danda. Observe the breath flow and you will find that within 5 to 10 minutes, the alternate nostril has become active. For example, if your right nostril is open, put Yoga Danda under your right armpit, breath flow will change to the left.
The area under the armpit is rich in lymph nodes. Pressing the armpit with Yoga Danda stimulates lymphatic flow and boosts the removal of waste matter and toxins from the body. Make it a regular practice to use the Yoga Danda for a few minutes daily.
Yoga Danda is used for Japa Mala Meditation as well. Long-duration meditation with mala beads (japa) can become exhausting, so using the Yoga Danda for arm support facilitates a longer, unhindered Mala Japa without discomfort.
